With over 22 years of experience in senior leadership in healthcare and non-profit environments, Peter R. Hughes is a results-oriented management professional who possesses an exemplary record of success in organizational management, strategic planning, and process development. During his career he has had the opportunity to work with several health systems in both urban and rural settings in his role as the organizations chief strategy and marketing officer.
In 1997, Mr. Hughes was hired as vice president of Marketing, Planning and Community Services for Gundersen Lutheran Health System, an integrated delivery system providing services to a 19-county area including Western Wisconsin, Southeastern Minnesota and Northeast Iowa. The health system, with 6,000 employees, features a tertiary medical center, 42 regional clinics, four affiliate rural hospitals, and numerous subsidiaries. Before joining Gundersen Lutheran, Mr. Hughes served as vice president of marketing and business development for Foote Health System, an acute care community hospital serving a six-county area in south-central Michigan.

Mr. Hughes began his career with Good Samaritan Hospital and Health Center in Dayton, Ohio in 1983. In 1985, he was recruited to Franklin Regional Medical Center in Franklin, Penn., where he served as the assistant administrator for marketing and planning.
Mr. Hughes holds a master’s degree in Sociology from the University of Cincinnati and a bachelor’s degree in Education from the University of Evansville, Evansville, Indiana. He is also a graduate of the Executive Management Program for Healthcare at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio.
